Pieter Badenhorst grew up in Tulbagh, a scenic town in the Boland region, which sparked his early interest in winemaking. Fascinated by the scientific transformation of grape juice into wine by yeast, he pursued a career in this field. After completing his Bachelor of Science in oenology and viticulture at Stellenbosch University in 2002, he joined Nederburg as an assistant winemaker in 2003 under Razvan Macici and Andrea Freeborough.
In 2007, Pieter became the winemaker at Bergkelder in Stellenbosch, overseeing brands like Fleur du Cap and JC le Roux. His career led him back to Nederburg in 2019 to lead the white-wine team, enriched by stints in Germany and France. By the end of 2023, he launched his own company, combining his love for wine and people.
Pieter offers a range of wine services, including hosting over 400 wine tastings, creating customized wine tours with activities like quad biking, and orchestrating food and wine pairing events with top chefs, tailored to both local and international clients.
Pieter offers winemaking services for individuals, with options ranging from sourcing any type and volume of grapes to selecting from various styles of unlabeled wines, complemented by support in label design etc.
Pieter offers expert consulting services for restaurants on wine lists and cellars, guides vintners through the winemaking process, and assists private collectors in managing and enhancing their wine collections.
